Inlays or onlays

What is it?

  • Restoration for large cavities by PORCELAIN or GOLD.

When is it used?

  • When the chewing surface of teeth is affected by caries.
  • Large areas of the tooth affected.

Advantages of porcelain.

  • Can equal the strength of natural teeth.
  • It lasts longer than composite.
  • Custom-made to fit with CEREC technique.
  • Does not stain.

Disadvantages

  • Porcelain has a relative higher cost than composite resin.
  • Gold inlays is expensive and not the same colour as teeth.
