Teeth Whitening

Discolouration of teeth is a normal occurrence as a person ages.
Bleaching of discoloured teeth is an easy way to give your smile a “make-over”.

Teeth with yellow stains usually lighten the easiest. The crowns and restorations on teeth will not bleach.

An oxidizing agent is used to lighten teeth. It is safe for your teeth and will not make them more prone to caries or fractures.
Depending on the nature and severity of stains, the oral hygienist will recommend one of the following processes:

  1. Home Bleaching – The patient sleeps with a fitted template, filled with activating gel, for 20 nights.
  2. In-office Bleaching – This requires 2 visits of 90 minutes each, a week apart.
  3. Combination of the above

Teeth may become sensitive during the treatment process, due to dehydration. However it will resolve quickly afterwards.

Results lasts 3 to 4 years and follow-up treatments is usually easy and inexpensive.
