COMPOSITE FILLINGS

Composite fillings, also known as tooth-coloured fillings, are a type of dental filling that is used to repair teeth that have been damaged by decay, cracks, or fractures. Composite fillings are made of a tooth-coloured resin material that is bonded to the tooth, providing a natural-looking and durable restoration.

Composite fillings have become increasingly popular in recent years because they offer several advantages over traditional amalgam (metal) fillings. One of the main benefits of composite fillings is that they are more aesthetically pleasing since they can be colour-matched to the natural colour of your teeth, making them virtually indistinguishable from the surrounding teeth.

Another advantage of composite fillings is that they are less invasive than traditional amalgam fillings. Since composite fillings bond directly to the tooth, less of the healthy tooth structure needs to be removed in order to place the filling, which helps to preserve the strength and integrity of the tooth.

Composite fillings are also very versatile. In addition to repairing decayed teeth, they can also be used to repair chipped, cracked, or broken teeth, and can even be used to close gaps between teeth or improve the appearance of discoloured teeth.

The process of getting a composite filling typically involves removing the damaged or decayed portion of the tooth, cleaning the area, and then placing the composite resin material in layers. Eachlayer is hardened using a special light, and once the filling is complete, it is polished to ensure a smooth, natural-looking finish.

Composite fillings are a safe and effective way to restore damaged or decayed teeth while also maintaining the natural beauty of your smile.
