DENTAL HYGIENE

This appointment is a routine visit to our dental hygienist for professional cleaning of the teeth and gums.

These appointments are typically recommended every six months to maintain good oral health and prevent dental problems such as cavities, gum disease, and bad breath.

During your dental hygiene appointment, the hygienist will perform a thorough cleaning of your teeth and gums. This includes removing plaque and tartar build-up from the teeth using special instruments, polishing the teeth to remove surface stains, and flossing between the teeth to remove any debris that may be stuck.

The hygienist also performs a periodontal evaluation to check the health of the gums and bone surrounding the teeth. This involves measuring the depth of the pockets around the teeth and checking for signs of gum disease.

In addition to cleaning the teeth and gums, our hygienist provides education on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing and flossing, and may recommend products such as mouthwash or interdental cleaners to help maintain good oral health.

If any problems are identified during the appointment, such as cavities or gum disease, the hygienist will recommend further treatment or refer you to a dentist for evaluation.

Overall, a dental hygienist appointment is an important part of maintaining good oral health and preventing dental problems. If you are due for a cleaning or have any concerns about your oral health, it is important to schedule an appointment with our dental hygienist.
